Job Description:
Girls Moving Forward is an education and empowerment service dedicated to ending the gender-confidence gap in school. Through hands-on, in-home tutoring and empowerment, we help girls gain confidence and competence both in and out of the classroom. We are looking for experienced and motivated young women to help our clients achieve their educational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in a wide range of disciplines
- Able to communicate effectively
- Personable and approachable
- Experience working with kids
- Previous tutoring experience
- Familiar with basic computer software (MS Office, Internet, Email)
- Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and insurance

Desired Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Specialty in teaching math and science curriculum
- Dedication to women’s history and feminist issues

We are looking for passionate and experienced young women to help our growing organization make new and lasting connections in the community while effecting positive change in the lives of the young women and girls we serve.

Job Description:
Each of our internships is designed to specifically meet the needs of our interns. When selecting new interns, we carefully consider the skills they bring to the position and the experiences that they want to take from their time at Girls Moving Forward. This internship is unpaid, however, course credit is available.

Possible Internship Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on tutoring and mentoring support to girls
- Seek out opportunities to share the mission and vision of Girls Moving Forward
- Attend community events such as PTA and parent group meetings as a representative of Girls Moving Forward
- Research opportunities for grant funding and educational partnership alliances
- Write and develop girl-centered education curriculum
- Serve as a research assistant in our quantitative self-esteem study
- Participate in staff and team meetings
- Assist in additional projects as assigned/developed

Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to social justice issues, particularly those involving girls
- Dedication to the mission, vision and values of Girls Moving Forward
- In pursuit of a degree in Business, Communications, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Education, Community Studies, Women's Studies, and/or experience in program coordination, school and community relations, tutoring programs and recruitment
- Hard working, creative and detail oriented
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and internet
- Exceptional communication skills
- Outstanding presentation skills and a professional demeanor
- Willing to work flexible hours, take initiative and work unsupervised
- Willing and able to work with diverse populations
- Must have a reliable car, valid driver's license and automobile insurance
